T-Shirt Graphic Lesson 2.........................Convert to Photoshop

AIM: Today you will show how well you can follow written instructions without the help of your teacher or classmates

THERE IS TO BE NO TALKING DURING THIS ACTIVITY
If you GET STUCK on one of the STEPS, indicate which one by CIRCLING it on the provided PRINT OUT of this lesson.
Write your NAME & BAND at the TOP of the PRINT OUT and PLACE it into the SUBMIT FOLDER for your class

1. OPEN your T-SHIRT file (or use the T-SHIRT Martina file in the group folder) and DELETE all UNWANTED POINTS & LINE SEGMENTS
VIEW > OUTLINE and ZOOM OUT. Doing this will allow you to see points and line segments that you might not otherwise see. DELETE them!
VIEW > PREVIEW to see your artwork again
2. SAVE AS and CHOOSE .EPS in the FORMAT drop down menu
3. CLOSE your FILE and QUIT ILLUSTRATOR
4. DRAG your closed T-Shirt...EPS file ICON to the PHOTOSHOP icon (The Blue Feather) on your DOCK
Your FILE NAME should have the file extension .EPS at the end of it. If you DON'T HAVE one go back to STEP 2 you STEP SKIPPER YOU!!!
5. In the RASTERIZE GENERIC EPS FORMAT Window...
* Look at the BOTTOM of the WINDOW and make sure the CONSTRAIN PROPORTIONS BOX is CHECKED
  • Enter 7 for WIDTH
  • Make sure the width setting is for INCHES
  • DO NOT ENTER anything for HEIGHT
  • Enter 300 for RESOLUTION
  • Set the MODE to GRAYSCALE

6. Now go to the IMAGE MENU and open up the CANVAS SIZE window
  • Enter 8 for WIDTH
  • Enter 10.5 for HEIGHT
  • Make sure the settings are for INCHES

7. SAVE your work and choose .PSD for your FILE FORMAT
It should be named "T-SHIRT" followed by your FIRST NAME and then the file extension .PSD
Example: T-Shirt_Martina.psd

8. BACK IT UP by dragging it into the SHARED FOLDER
9. SUBMIT your T-Shirt.psd file by DRAGGING it into the SUBMIT T-Shirt Set Up folder for YOUR class

Draw a selection on any WHITE AREA
SELECT > SIMILAR

DELETE!!

You need to get RID OF the WHITE PIXELS

A: Click on the STROKE check box and make sure stroke is HIGHLIGHTED
B: Double click on the color icon to open the COLOR PICKER
C: In the Color Picker change the CMYK settings as shown

I set my stroke size to 10 px. There are other settings. Check them out!

Filter > Filter Gallery
Click on a Filter and play with the settings!!
(Some of the filters will have no effect. Keep trying different ones)
Scale down your preview so you can see the PREVIEW EFFECT on your entire DRAWING
